Five years ago, Spot home gallery was born. Its opening was scheduled for March 2020, but then the world came to a halt. We postponed three times, with the first group show, Andamento lento, already on the walls, until the official inauguration on February 4, 2021.
Since then, perhaps only the approach has remained slow: that time dedicated to research, listening, and reflection. Everything else has been so intense and fast-paced that it sometimes feels like ten years have passed, given all the projects realized and experiences lived: exhibitions, fairs, new artists joining the family. And then the three residencies in the territory, which generated works capable of portraying Naples with different voices and sensibilities — the raw and intense Naples by Anders Petersen, the poignant and poetic Fiori di fuoco by Anaïs Tondeur, and the ironic and whimsical Failed postcards by Kourtney Roy.
In these five years, Spot has nurtured relationships, fostered visions, and supported productions born here, in this city that continues to be our lifeblood and our home.
With Quinto tempo I want to celebrate this journey. The title, also inspired by music, evokes an “odd” time: five beats instead of the usual four, an irregular and unpredictable rhythm that opens onto a new flow.
Following the pulse of a fifth time, this group show takes shape, tracing the essential marks of a shared path and bringing together all the gallery’s artists in a harmonic composition. Some works are new, others previously exhibited, each dialoguing with the others to convey a collective vision of Spot’s first five years — a time in which everything we have created continues to resonate.
