Lorenzo Castore and Iaia Forte
Via Toledo 66, Napoli
Spot Home Gallery and Dispaccio bookshop are pleased to host the presentation of Lorenzo Castore’s book Patrizia Cavalli. What Is Mine?, with the author and actress Iaia Forte, who will read a selection of poems by Patrizia Cavalli.
Two months after the death of Patrizia Cavalli, Lorenzo Castore’s camera moves through the rooms in which, for more than fifty years, the writer shaped her inner universe. The result is a sequence of over two hundred photographs, shot on colour and black-and-white film: a final, intimate glance at the apartment on Via del Biscione before its definitive dismantling. From wide views to objects piled inside drawers, from kitchen utensils to the artworks hanging on the walls, Castore composes a tactile, meticulous narrative, capable of transforming objects, walls, and spaces into fragments of a single, multifaceted effigy in absence.
“I fell in love with Patrizia Cavalli’s poems instantly,” he writes. “On sweltering mid-August days, I entered her domestic universe and formed a friendship with her through the labyrinth of rooms that, over the course of some fifty years, witnessed that space shift from the everyday to the interior—and back again.”
What is mine? thus becomes a testament to this posthumous friendship, born from the encounter between the poet’s voice and the photographer’s lens, ready to capture its echo. In this silent dialogue between light and memory, a portrait takes shape of a fragile, domestic, incandescent human landscape—one in which the life and poetry of Patrizia Cavalli will continue to dwell, inviolate.
The book is co-published by NERO and Spazio Giallo.
